Reporter: Tokio Hotel on their first Live-tour. Only four months ago they were an unknown school band from Magdeburg, now they fill great halls. In only six days all concerts were sold out.
Georg: When I think about it… well, it can’t get much better, where would it go? I mean, we play a sold out tour, people buy our single, people buy our album, what’d be next?
Bill: The way it all went, I think, has made us all incredibly happy with the situation. Everything that has happened now wasn’t something we’d expected. It all came very quickly, if you look at it one way, but we’ve also worked on it for a very long time.
Reporter: Everything started in Magdeburg. Since their success Tokio Hotel doesn’t come in their old practise room very often anymore.
Bill: That couch there isn’t all, it goes further, but it’s such a mess…
Georg: You can barely get through, because of all the junk lying around.
Bill: Yeah, it’s ridiculous, but once it lies there – aw that smells! - once you left it there you never really clean it up of course…
Tom: Oh, and this here is our platform, it’s really great… Just look at the construction! Beneath it are mouldy planks, by the way.
Bill: Yeah, we’ve always planned to change it, because it’s really unstable.
Tom: What about it?
Woman: Show it!
[Bill laughs]
Tom: No? Why shouldn’t we show it? Why? I think it’s lovely… [Shows a teddy bear]
Tom: We used to come here every day and practised, just hung around here together…
Bill: And we ate, as you can see.
Tom: Indeed, and now we only practise in the studio, actually. We’re preparing the tour, which we’d never though we’d be playing.
Reporter: For five years already, Bill, Tom, Georg and Gustav are in a band together. But in those days Tokio Hotel called themselves “Devilish”. In the spring of 2003 the get discovered and soon after that the signed their first contract. In one year of time they recorded their album “Schrei”, and since then, nothing is like it used to be anymore.
Bill: We’de had performances before that, where there were only five people there. And most of them were just having a beer.
Tom: Yeah, that were painful situations… We’ve had so many shows that weren’t organised right, and not just because there weren’t enough people willing to come.
Bill: Yes, but it was really awkward when there weren’t many people.
Tom: Yes that’s true, but it wasn’t advertised that well either.
Bill: We’re going underground…
Reporter: Undisturbed practising has become impossible in Magdeburg. Tokio hotel are just to well-known in their home-town; the press and a lot of jealousy make a normal life for them impossible. That’s why they’re doing the tour preparations like a secret mission in Osnabrücke.
Bill: Hurry people, I want to go in the car, I’m cold.
Reporter: Although the pressure from the outside has grown, the friendship of the band is solid.
Georg: We already were good friends in the past, and because we’re now really always around each other, the relationship has just got better. You really know each other through and through, you know exactly how you can annoy one another, on when it’s best to leave a person alone. It just gets us closer and closer together.
Georg: Look at this.
Tom: Oh, those things from Trolli, those funny cheeseburgers! The taste so artificial, so incredibly artificial! It’s the best…
Georg: Now I look all greedy just because Bill over there is having angry conversations with his mummy again… (not sure about that one)
Reporter: In a small concert hall Gustav, Georg, Bill and Tom can practice for their tour undisturbed for a couple of days. No one is allowed to know that Tokio Hotel is here. They have to test new equipment and practise their show of course.
Tom: I don’t think any of us had though it’d be so big and complete, but we just want to prepare ourselves for the show. I mean, playing the songs isn’t really a problem, but you also have to plan it and there’s a lot to do.
It’s turned of, stupid thing… [tests it] Works…
Reporter: The guys of Tokio Hotel have let themselves set free from school for a year, practising and travelling is taking all their energy. the teenagers are now living a professional life.
Tom: School takes more energy; you have to concentrate more [others agree]. Everything is taken easy here…
Bill: Fortunately it is exactly what we want to do, so it’s no problem at all.
Georg: You can’t really compare it to school.
Bill: Yes, it’s something completely different.
Tom: [Shouts something to Bill]
Bill: They always have to hold on to one mistake, because I don’t make any other ones, it’s so annoying [Laughs]
Gustav: Bill, you’re constantly making mistakes! You’re a mistake in human form! [Laughs]
Tom: Yes, we’re really arguing a lot in here, especially about the sound. And it always takes a while till everybody is satisfied.
Georg: Two or three days…
Bill: But that’s really personal. Of course Georg needs the bass to be extra loud and I want my voice to be louder, that’s just a personal thing.
Tom: And of course everybody need the guitar a bit louder to orientate… [Laughs]
Reporter: The songs have to be practised over and over again; the expectations of Tokio Hotel are high.
Tom: We’re not really nervous, you don’t really worry like “Oh damn, if that doesn’t go well…”. The show is planned well, we get on stage and then see if it all goes well –
Bill: But there are always doubts though.
Tom: Yes, of course there are always doubts, but there isn’t really any pressure, we’re not like “Oh damn, if we mess this up it’s over”.
Bill: No, there’s no pressure.
Reporter: After more than twelve hours it’s finally time for some rest.
Gustav: [Points at the sweets] Can you eat these or are they just for show?
Woman: You can just take one
Gustav: Oh, thank you very much! Can I just pick one or are they specified?
Tom: they’re specified, Gustav. See? This one if fro people whose name starts with a G…

Tom: So we’re all checked in so let’s go, let’s go-lets go-let’s go…
Reporter: In spite of the long days Tokio Hotel enjoys their present life.
Georg: I think you should enjoy every moment now, you don’t know how it’ll be in one or two years. It can always end as quickly as it has started, we all understand that, so we just enjoy every moment now.
Reporter: In the second part you’ll see how Tokio Hotel make their fans go crazy at their concert in Berlin, and tremble along when two fans meet their favourite band in person.

In seven hours Tokio Hotel will play their music here. To get as close as possible to the stage, the fans have been standing in the cold since eight in the morning, and still in a good mood.
[Girls sing Durch den Monsun]
Bill: We’re still really exited when we see how many people are there. We don’t go to the concerts thinking “Okay, there’ll be a couple of thousands there”. Sometimes we don’t even expect people to be standing there when we get out of the bus.
Tom: The fans are really what gives us the most motivation, and prises are very nice too of course, then you see that the long work is paying of and you get rewarded with golden record – or it’s CD’s now – so prices are good of course, but what motivates us the most are the fans.
Reporter: For Amelie and Jenny today is a dream come true; they’ll meet their favourite band in person. The sixteen-year-olds have been Tokio Hotel-fans since four months.
Amelie: These guys where a half year ago just normal schoolboys and now suddenly they’re successful, but still really nice. I mean, when you see interviews they seen really nice, ordinary.
Reporter: jenny and Amelie collect everything from Tokio Hotel they can get their hands on and watch the DVD and listen to the album everyday.
Jenny: Here comes the smile! Look at Bill’s little smile! Ah…
And the music is really great to, when you just listen to it and…
Amelie: … take time for it
Jenny: Yeah, when you take the time for the album and listen to the texts… They’re really not as illogical as people say they are. You know… “The texts suck!” they really don’t. They got something, every song has a story and I think that’s very cool.
Amelie: When I listen to a song I’d really like to know how these guys are as people and how they think of the song. Rette Mich for example, I think it’s just great, what they’re singing is often exactly what I’m feeling.
Jenny: You hear so often that there’s so much bustle around these guys, and maybe the media shows then very different from how they are as real people, and I’d really like to know how that is. Without a camera, maybe they’re totally different.
Reporter: The girls are already going to the concert hall in the late afternoon. At the same time: the band on the highway on their way to Berlin, in five hours their concert will start. When the fans are waiting in front of the hall, Gustav, Georg, Tom and Bill arrive unnoticed.
Bill: I think that the night definitely is going to get really really good. The cool thing is that we’re playing the Columbia Hall, a lot of bands have performed here that have been playing music for a very long time; I’ve already seen pictures of Gwen Stefani and so on and it’s already a good feeling just to be allowed to play in this hall. And I’m happy that 3500 people are going to be there, that the concert is sold out, and I think it’ll be a night with a lot of energy.
Reporter: For an hour the sound has to be adapted to the hall; at the first live-tour nothing can go wrong.
Tom: Yes, you’re definitely nervous before shows, but I think that’s permanent. We we’re nervous for the five people and today for a couple of thousand and that’ll always be like that, it’s part of it.
Gustav: I’m always happy to play live, because most of the time you’re playing by your self, but sometimes you have to work with the audience, and that’s Bill’s main task.
Bill: Yes, you have to entertain a couple of thousand people totally alone. I mean, you can’t count on other artist that maybe perform with you there, or on one hit like Durch den Monsun, you really have to try to keep the mood up that hour and a half.
Georg: For every show you’re just nervous, I think that when that’s gone something is wrong. And at every gig something new happens, you learn something new; it’s really exciting.
Reporter: While the guys are practising, Jenny and Amelie go backstage, the long-looked for meeting is getting close.
Jenny: I’m already incredibly nervous; my hart is going so fast and I’ve got butterflies in my stomach… I’m looking forward to it… yes, really cool.
Amelie: I’ve wrote down what I really want to say, in case I’m so nervous I forget it all… When that’s okay.
Reporter: Just a couple of metres separate Amelie and Jenny from Tokio Hotel.
[They say hi, introduce themselves etc…]

Bill: Have you let those [the piercings] done together?
Amelie: No, I did it a day later.
Jenny: Indeed.
Amelie: I did mine myself and she didn’t.
Bill: What? You’ve done it yourself, I don’t believe that, damn…
Amelie: Well, this one [in her lip] I did myself, this one [in her eyebrow] I’ve let done.
Tom: You’ve did that one yourself? No! That’s crazy…

Bill: God, I couldn’t even do an ear myself…
Amelie: It was absolutely great! Those guys are just so nice!
Jenny: All four of them.
Amelie: Without exception, not one of them. I’ll be beaming with happiness all day.

Amelie: They’re so nice!
Jenny: Yes! [Laughs]
Reporter: They’re finally let in. 3500 people are pouring into the hall. Amelie and Jenny mingle with the crowd of fans again.

Georg: Of course, you’re standing up there with trembling knees, you don’t realise what’s happening at all. It’s like, when someone asks me afterwards what exactly happened, I won’t be able to remember at all.
Bill: I don’t know how to describe that. You get such an enormous kick when you get up there and the audience screams, and after that, when I get of stage, I can’t remember anything that I did. Like, I don’t know how I moved up there, and I don’t have to think about what I’m singing for one second, that just comes to you.
Tom: It’s a kind of like a dream standing there, it’s like you’ve just dreamed about it. You don’t really realise it at that moment, but after it you understand it all and that’s like… well, I really enjoy it.
Bill: Do you want to finish the song with me?
Girl: Yes!

Tom: We’ve done so much, we’ve won so many prises, we’re able to record everything which is awesome. We get to play two hits in this tour, and it’s all just unbelievable for us. I think that at the moment we don’t have any dreams anymore, in music I mean. This is everything we’ve always dreamed of.

T: That probably will be… Well, we just had a concert in Münster and that was really great. That was really the most – well, of course they
were all good – but that was really great.
Though something stupid happened to me; I wanted to throw a towel in the crowd. To the people on the side, who stand quite high.
I wanted to throw it that high, but I didn’t come so far. And they almost fell down (the fans) because they all bent so far forward
trying to catch that towel. They would have fell really hard, so I’m now a bit afraid that they’ll fall down somehow…
R: Everything was all right though?
T: Everything was all right, nothing happened.
R: You played some concerts lately and we have some exclusive pictures of a concert that we will show you. Another exclusive thing;
you were at the Dome, weren’t you? How was it?
B: Yes, the Dome was really fun. You always notice that when there are so many artist there, that you meet so many people.
The Dome really was fun, but unfortunately we couldn’t go to the party afterwards, because of the tour. As you said, we are on tour
and we’ll play the last concert tomorrow, so we didn’t have a lot of time. We actually just did the show and hade to go immediately.
R: Directly afterwards?
B: Indeed
R: Well, then I have something to tell you: we have our own spies and we also watched you’re hotel!
I heard some rumours that it actually went pretty wild! There would have been loads of ladies jumping around;
the entire floor would have been full!
B: Really? But at the Dome we weren’t – Oh, yes we were in a hotel! But that was, well we definitely didn’t have girls on the room,
I can tell you that. We had to sleep well; we didn’t have time to party much. We always hade to get up early because of the concerts
so we haven’t hade any wild parties, I can tell you that much. There were other artists in the hotel, maybe your spies saw them.
R: Yes, maybe I heard the wrong rumours… But I’m not totally sure; you are grinning pretty guilty…

B: Well, there was a girl who slept at the bus stop in front of our door; that was really incredible. We feel really sorry because we’re
actually very rarely at home so when people find us there it’s really a big coincidence. That girl had slept there and it was really really
cold outside and afterwards she was half-frozen and a neighbour had found her in the morning. That’s really bad.
R: Something like that would never really please you, would it?
B: No, not really. I really felt guilty because she actually never saw us then.
R: Yes. And there are ever some ladies – I read that in this magazine – that follow you through the country. They’ve run away from home from
a month and tried to follow you while touring. What do you think about that?
T: That’s also really incredible/bad. The funny thing is that we actually haven’t met them I think… It’s certainly a bit frightening,
what they all do
R: For you. Simply…
Well. When I imagine: I’m a sixteen-year-old boy; I’m somehow getting to know myself a bit and have huge problems with [Tom laughs]
– didn’t I formulate that great? – Well, what I mean; do you actually have problems to get to know/get acquainted with girls at your age?
B: Erm…
T: Yes, well getting to know girls is maybe a bit difficult now because we’re always travelling but we’re not travelling alone very much
so we don’t meet very much girls. But otherwise…well then it’s actually not that hard.
B: Especially now we’re touring; we’re actually only at concerts or after show parties and there aren’t so many normal girls that we would
address otherwise. That’s a bit of a shame.
R: Maybe a bit of a shame, but maybe it’s also less complicated. And – just a short explanation please – at an after show party someone had
put something in your drink hadn’t they?
T: Yes [laughs] Well we’re not always keeping quiet, but I can say that it looked worse than it actually was.
Girls: Yes yes…
R: The audience isn’t convinced [laughs]

R: There was someone there? Oh I’ll go and see…

T: Maybe when she lives in Magdeburg…
R: But what I actually wanted to say is: You’re not really the typical “Boyband” people would expect. Do you actually do anything about
“image-maintaining” or something? And does somebody else have any influence on it? Maybe the CD company (?)
T: Well, I think that an image just develops itself. We just try to be who we are. We don’t say to each other: Okay Georg you should be the
quiet one today or something like that. It just… we just are who we are and we don’t pretend. And when other people say things like:
“And he’s more like this and he’s more like that…” they can say that but we don’t really mind about that.
R: Simply take it like it comes?
T: Simply take it like it comes.
R: And in your newest video there is a pretty wild party going on, isn’t it?
B: Indeed. The theme of that video was actually that we didn’t have one. We simply went there and just placed the song. We had very much
walk-ons and well… we were there and there were also some friends of us there that we invited and told “Okay, just drop by and take a look.
We just did it and looked what would happen and this video is what came of it.
R: That is what came from it. Did you expect that?
Gu: No
R: [laughs] Can you also say a little more?
B: Especially the spit-scene!
Gu: Yes, especially the spit-scene that you could see…
T: We also saw that when the video was lying there. (Don’t think that’s correct, do you? -_-)

B: Of course

Gu: No, it was water. I had to stand there and they spit all that water over me. All my hair gel went into my eyes and they made me terribly

But this year it incidentally all passed me by, because we did so many shows.
T: The only thing we did was going to the Christmas-market.
B: Yes, personally I think the Christmas-market is totally cool, with …cakes – (I don’t know what he means, but it’s probably some sort
of German snack. From what he says it sounds a bit like fritters, so I’ll just call then that)
You know what? I’m totally furious and I have to tell you this: There are NO fritters in Berlin!
T: Yes!
B: Do you know fritters?
R: I don’t know what fritters are.
T: You don’t know them either?!

B: That are such small pastry things and then they get deep-fried.

B: In Magdeburg you can buy them at any corner of the street; I just don’t understand that you can’t get them in Berlin.
R: We certainly have to change that, that’s clear. But Chrismas-market was fun?
B: We take some with us then the next time, as a fan-present.
R: [laughs] Very good idea. But not only the girls in here, but also those outside have a lot of questions for you and we already let a

B: I have to admit that I have a hairdresser I always go to, but he’s just acquaintances my mum. Otherwise I would have to explain it
over and over again. When I did go to other hairdressers they were all incredibly panicking like “How do I do this and how do I get it
like that?” But it’s actually really simple.
R: Okay. Ad then there is the question: “Are you nervous before concerts?”
Ge: I think that you’re always nervous before concerts, and that it will always be like that.
T: Definitely. We’ve done only nine or eight concerts.
R: And it was your first tour, you have to consider that.
T: Yes, and we were certainly nervous. In the beginning more then later, at least I was. But in principle there’s always certain nervousness.
B: An the thing is; It was our first tour and then we have to make all this people enthusiastic on our own. We’re not at the Dome or
something, where there are more artists, but we have to try to entertain this people for an hour and a half.
T: We also don’t have an example yet, so we really have to do this all on our own.
B: Indeed. Then you are more afraid, or you’re more nervous then for a television show or something.
R: Well, it certainly worked out very well! And then there’s the question: Do you expect your dream-girl in the crowd?
B: Well, I don’t want to exclude it, but we can’t really get to know these girls. There’s only one girl on the stage but…yes, well I
can’t really get to know her; I only sing the song to an end with her. So I would say it’s hard to find a dream girl there, but it could
be that coincidently there is a girl in the crowd that is really your dream girl.
T: And I always only see the first, second and maybe third row relatively good.
R: Because of the light of course.
T: Yes exactly. After that it totally dark and I’m also constantly blinded so you just don’t see a lot.
R: What can you do to be more easily noticed? Can you do something so you notice them? I mean; do the underpants help?

T: It’s also cool that we don’t have to collect all these things ourselves because they send it all to us, even still glued on and something
written on it and so on and that’s just really cool. It cheers me up.

the solidarity that we have and so on. And there aren’t any bad feelings or anything, I think that’s always extremely overstated by a lot of
people but that really isn’t true.
T: We really don’t know them at all. It‘s not like we’re all fighting each other backstage and throw … at each others head…
R: Like those rappers who fight all the time but afterwards go and drink a bier. Just out of the show…
But when you’re not there…
B: Exactly, people image it very differently. Everybody has his own room in there and you don’t see eachother that much.
Maybe just at the catering when you get yourself something to eat, but furthermore….
R: Okay. Than I’d say you should unpack a present too. Now it’s so shortly before Christmas. Normally we unpack them before,
to look if there’s anything evil or bad in it, like underwear. But not now, just open it.

I wanted to throw it that high, but I didn’t come so far. And they almost fell down (the fans) because they all bent so far forward
trying to catch that towel. They would have fell really hard, so I’m now a bit afraid that they’ll fall down somehow…

R: You played some concerts lately and we have some exclusive pictures of a concert that we will show you. Another exclusive thing;
you were at the Dome, weren’t you? How was it?
B: Yes, the Dome was really fun. You always notice that when there are so many artist there, that you meet so many people.
The Dome really was fun, but unfortunately we couldn’t go to the party afterwards, because of the tour. As you said, we are on tour
and we’ll play the last concert tomorrow, so we didn’t have a lot of time. We actually just did the show and hade to go immediately.

R: Well, then I have something to tell you: we have our own spies and we also watched you’re hotel!
I heard some rumours that it actually went pretty wild! There would have been loads of ladies jumping around;

a month and tried to follow you while touring. What do you think about that?
T: That’s also really incredible/bad. The funny thing is that we actually haven’t met them I think… It’s certainly a bit frightening,
what they all do

Well. When I imagine: I’m a sixteen-year-old boy; I’m somehow getting to know myself a bit and have huge problems with [Tom laughs]
– didn’t I formulate that great? – Well, what I mean; do you actually have problems to get to know/get acquainted with girls at your age?
B: Erm…
T: Yes, well getting to know girls is maybe a bit difficult now because we’re always travelling but we’re not travelling alone very much
so we don’t meet very much girls. But otherwise…well then it’s actually not that hard.
B: Especially now we’re touring; we’re actually only at concerts or after show parties and there aren’t so many normal girls that we would
address otherwise. That’s a bit of a shame.

B: Indeed. The theme of that video was actually that we didn’t have one. We simply went there and just placed the song. We had very much

We just did it and looked what would happen and this video is what came of it.

R: Well, it certainly worked out very well! And then there’s the question: Do you expect your dream-girl in the crowd?

can’t really get to know her; I only sing the song to an end with her. So I would say it’s hard to find a dream girl there, but it could
be that coincidently there is a girl in the crowd that is really your dream girl.
T: And I always only see the first, second and maybe third row relatively good.

T: Yes exactly. After that it totally dark and I’m also constantly blinded so you just don’t see a lot.
R: What can you do to be more easily noticed? Can you do something so you notice them? I mean; do the underpants help?

And then this here; this aren’t the weekly groceries, no. This is one fan letter.

T: Well, the biggest is certainly here. This letter of 200 metres is certainly the longest we’ve ever had. And that’s just really cool.
How much work this must have been. Even handwritten! Yes that’s really special.
B: And furthermore we get a lot of files (Don’t know how to say it otherwise) that we collect and I’m always amazed how much they make
for us! I’m so lazy myself; I never just sit down and make something. We really get a lot of things like files where they glue things on
finely and all.
T: It’s also cool that we don’t have to collect all these things ourselves because they send it all to us, even still glued on and something
written on it and so on and that’s just really cool. It cheers me up.

It already comes out of the audience, the exclamations. A band that became famous approximately the same time you did this year
is called Us5. What is going on there?

B: Well, we were at the Dome and they also performed there and I must say… that’s something totally different so it’s not really comparable.
I guess their success started a little earlier, but the singles went pretty much equal; that the big shows and so on got going but further…
the solidarity that we have and so on. And there aren’t any bad feelings or anything, I think that’s always extremely overstated by a lot of
people but that really isn’t true.
T: We really don’t know them at all. It‘s not like we’re all fighting each other backstage and throw … at each others head…
R: Like those rappers who fight all the time but afterwards go and drink a bier. Just out of the show…
But when you’re not there…
B: Exactly, people image it very differently. Everybody has his own room in there and you don’t see eachother that much.
Maybe just at the catering when you get yourself something to eat, but furthermore….
R: Okay. Than I’d say you should unpack a present too. Now it’s so shortly before Christmas. Normally we unpack them before,
to look if there’s anything evil or bad in it, like underwear. But not now, just open it.

They were, just like the organizers of the Eins Live Krone, inder the impression that the young musicians were supervised during the party.
“Eins Live Chef”: It’s our responsibility to make sure that the band is supervised before the event, because they haven’t come off age yet, and so we did. We’ve agreed with the management that there’d be people to accompany the band, and they’ve said they would take care of it. I don’t know if they have done their job well enough or not.
Reporter: Because it is said that they each had one (supervisor) at the party. The Youth Services are checking if one of them hasn’t done his job. You could call it mini bar inspection in Tokio Hotel (?).

Bill: Hello, good afternoon! I’m Bill and we’re here at the place we’re recording our new single Schrei.
Producer: At Tokio Hotel’s website we’ve made an appeal that we needed people to play in the music video of Schrei. And we’ve received tons of mail, they’ve written to us from all places, they’re more than happy to travel here at own costs just to be here. Some of them sent extremely sweet letters, but you just can’t answer all of them. I stopped looking at them after I’ve read about 1500 of them.
Director: Hi I’m Zoran Bihao and I’m the director of Tokio Hotel’s new video.
Guy: We have to do one more light-check inside and then we’ll get you in and start.
Director: It’s some sort of bungalow, it’s about to be pulled down I’m afraid. An old bungalow from the sixties. We’re just going to have a light party here, with the wild youngsters over there… Those are the instruments that can be demolished. Hopefully Bill will croudsurf over here, get op there, sing a bit and get back again. I guess it’ll look more convincing when it’s filled with 75 teenagers.
Producer: It’s like… the parents are gone and the band just invites their friends for a party at with of course the house will get seriously damaged.

Georg: The people did very well. We were afraid that in the beginning it’d be a bit fake, but they played along perfectly from the beginning.

B: I was really stunned, because – it’s really beautiful, that it goes all the way up there and so on. When it’s filled with audience and the lights are on I think it will be quite impressive. I think it’s really done well.

B: The situation in which the singer is, like, more important and the others are jealous because of it has never occurred to us I got to say.
Gustav is the one who’s calm. He often withdraws himself and is very happy he can sit behind the drums and doesn’t have to go to the front of the stage.
Tom is a real poser with his guitar so he backs me up on stage and Georg is really the typical bassist; a bit reserved and quiet. This is who we are and I think everyone is quite happy the way it is.
T: Bill is like, the “mysterious” one of us. He often withdraws himself so he sometimes misses things and when he doesn’t feel like taking part in what we do, he just walks off.
T: Try-outs are so boring, it’s really nothing special.
B: You have to wait all the time…
T: Try-outs suck.

T: I’m really looking forward to it. I want to go back there again, and after that the nervousness comes. I think that’s just part of it, I mean; when we wouldn’t be exited it would be pretty pathetic. We’re exited before every show.

Ge: I think this is going to be a very cool show. An hour before the show it kind of starts, then you get all jittery…
Gu: Then you’re exited, an hour before the show. And then you’re on the stage; the shortest minutes of your life. Then the applause comes and you get off stage; that’s always a nice feeling.

T: I think it’s great we have so many female fans, but of course I’m also very glad when we have male audience, which we get surprisingly much. We start getting more and more fan mail from male fans. Maybe no love letters, but they like our music and that makes me happy. And what also really makes me happy is when we get fan mail, which says “We’ve started a band and want to do it just like you do”. I find that extremely cool, when we show other people that it’s very well possible at our age.
Gu: Luckily I don’t stand out very much now, I’m glad actually. I still can walk on the street normally for 20 meters; Bill would have had to write at least five autographs in those 20 meters.
B: I got to say that it’s harder to find a permanent girlfriend, personally. Because you can never know if the girl would have been interested in you in normal life. For that reason it’s a bit harder, but of course I get to know people more easily now and get to talk to them. So there are two sides of this, you can never be really sure.
T: It would be really hard to create a proper relationship now, because you don’t know if it are true feelings or if the girl wants you just because you’re famous.
Ge: I mean, for a relationship there is simply not enough time right now. A good relationship asks much time to really get to know each other and I simply don’t have that time.
T: Well, when someone of the band would change we would all tell him (Not sure). I mean, we know each other for a very long time. And family and friends would also say something.
Gu: We’re just friends; we know when someone is going through a bad time and when to let someone alone, how to create a good atmosphere and what to expect from each other. we understand each other perfectly, but of course everybody also has his own friends.

Ge: It’s always extremely funny, and I’m always happy when I see the bus with everybody in it and I know that my stomach will hurt in the evening because we’ve been laughing all day.

B: Everyone gets dancing girls, even Stefan Raab has dancing girls and we don’t. I think we also should have dancing girls!

B: Yes, that was cool! I’ve waited very long for that, it’s really nice. Now you notice – That’s the cool thing; you get to know so many people on events like this. And we’re just the same as before, but we’re allowed to go to this sort of events, that’s incredible.

Ge: We absolutely love to play live, and that stimulates us, sometimes we’re like: “We’ve got a performance tomorrow and we’re still giving interviews now”. But I don’t mean that we’ve had enough of the interviews; it has always been clear that we would do that kind of things and we’re enjoying it actually.
17.00h: Fotoshooting “Bravo”
Gu: I think it’s exiting. When there always people there who scream for you… that’s cool.
T: Of course things have changed for us; we can’t just walk on the street without being recognised. We’re travelling a lot with the band, we also have a break of a year with school. So we can organise everything a bit better.
B: We’re doing now what we’ve done after school all the time. After school we always went straight to the rehears-room, we’ve only been making music. Now we can do that all day long so it all just turned around; when we have time left after making music, we do schoolwork. It’s going well.
Ge: There was always press waiting in front of the school and they also went inside the building. Sometimes I got called to the teacher’s room in the middle of a class because some guy from one or another magazine was waiting there who wanted me to give him an interview. That just doesn’t work.

T: Well, maybe Gustav plays for his love. But I can imagine when I would be in love right now I would want her to watch. But further you’re totally free up that stage; it’s a rock show; we play for our fans.

3 minutes till the autograph session at the red carpet
B: Hey, has anyone got a black pen? No? Anyone? (Great timing ;-)
Guy: No chewing gum, Georg!
Ge: We always walk around like this, we don’t specially change before a show.
B: No… We come like this in the morning and stay like this all day.
T: I would go to school the way we look now; I always walk around like this.
18.30h: The red carpet
B: Impressive.
T: Indeed.
B: I don’t think there were even so many people at the red carpet, I was really surprised so many were standing there.
T: Now we’re getting a little bit exited.
B: Yes, the nervousness is coming.
B: I certainly thing that the after show-party is going to be really nice, we’re really looking forward to it. And of course extremely to the performance. And I got to say I’m really curious who is going to win the national best Newcomer comet. I think it’s going to a tight race, because there are very much great artist nominated, with some very successful songs. we’ll see, I’m curious.
Ge: We have very different characters, we’ve known each other for five years now, and we know each other’s kinks and quirks. We know exactly how to tease one another, but also when to leave one another alone. And that’s an advantage of us.
B: Shouldn’t we get going?
T: Man, we have to be there at about a quarter to ten, and now it’s only a quarter to nine!

T: hey, are you crazy? [Laughs]
B: What? Oh, I’m sorry… I’m very nervous; I think I haven’t been this nervous in a long time.
T: To be honest I’m not really nervous yet.
B: I’m really a nervous wreck right now.
Ge: I’m all jittery [tickles Tom]
T: No more teasing!
Gu: Tom does that differently... (Plays air guitar)
Gu: The way we act here is the way we act everywhere; we talk big, we joke around, it doesn’t matter if we’re backstage at the Comet, in a cafe somewhere or rehearsing.
[Bill yawns]
B: They all bore me so much…
[Gustav massages Bill]
B: Now this is relaxing
T: Just to get this straight; Bill and Gustav are NOT gay.

B: Wow, I’m so overwhelmed. I don’t think anyone was expecting this. Our life has changed so quickly, everything went so fast and just because this one song, everything because of “Durch den Monsun”. We’re so grateful for this… Oh god, I don’t know what to say… erm, thanks to all our family and friends, and of course a big thank you to you! Thank you so much!
T: Thank you!
B: Thank you for letting us experience this!
T: A great feeling! I can’t really believe it just yet…
Ge: I’m shaking all over
B: Yes, it’s even worse then before a show; then we’re also nervous but… Our first prise, we’re incredible proud!

B: I’m standing there, backstage and I’m so happy because there are a lot of people who want to hear us. And then you walk out there and you know that you’ve given those people something, they’re happy. And I think that’s the best, to be able to make people happy with your work.
T: When you’re on the stage you’ve got so much adrenalin in your blood that you don’t really get it. When you go off stage, all you remember is that it was awesome. And the screaming and all, that’s so incredible, especially because they’re with so many.
[Performance]
B: It’s a totally different feeling when you stand there and the hall is full of people...
Ge: The hall already looked big when there weren’t any people in it, bit it even looked bigger when it was full.
Gu: It also seemed much higher up, when you see the top rows.
T: Yes, our hearts where certainly throbbing [Laughs]

Stefan Raab: The Supercomet 2005, ladies and Gentlemen –

B: I got to say; this is getting scary! It’s incredible! There are so many great artists here and now we’re getting another Comet. We were already glad to even be nominated for the other one, this is so unbelievable. We owe this to YOU! Thank you!
B: For all of us it’s clear that we’ll always keep making music. I think we will always be making music. That is just what we want. It doesn’t matter if we’re performing in sold out halls or getting gold somewhere again, or if there are only ten people listening or if we’re just rehearsing; we will always be making music.

Tokio Hotel, ladies and gentlemen! Yes, firstly; welcome and again congratulations to the two Comets you’ve won last week. Yes, it’s all going very well for you, isn’t it? When have you brought out your single, your first single?
Bill: Erm, about eight weeks ago
Tom: Indeed.
Stefan Raab: Eight weeks? And in this time it has burst out, incredibly…
Bill: Yes
Stefan Raab: From zero to one hundred, girls go crazy everywhere you come…
Georg: A bit.
Stefan Raab: A bit! [Laughs] And yes, your lives have certainly changed a lot, haven’t they?
Tom: Yes, they have. Also with school now. That would have been very hard now of course., so… yes, it’s complicated to get it all over you at the same time, but –
Stefan Raab: You mean you don’t go to school anymore now?
Bill: We do, but we’ve got a year off now. But Georg has to make sure that he graduates.

Bill: No, that’s right. Now, in the year we don’t have to go to school, we’re still voluntary studying because we don’t want to let it go totally, we all definitely want to do our finals. And, yes, we’re all aware of the fact that it could all suddenly be over.
Stefan Raab: Yes, well … (Says a German name, don’t know it) You don’t want to end up like that, do you? [Laughing] Your brothers, aren’t you? More than that, you’re twins!
Tom/Bill: Yes, identical twins.
Stefan Raab: Identical twins? You don’t see that at all!
Tom: Yes, a good thing.
[Laughing]
Stefan Raab: Who has don something artificial to his hair?
Bill: Both!
Tom: He did. He dyed his hair and I , well, it’s not artificial.
Bill: No, that’s right.
Tom: Yes, I’ve got my hair like this for four years now, and Bill always dyes his hair. Normally we both have blond hair, a bit darker than you.
Stefan Raab: [Laughs, pretends to do karate (?)] Okay. You’re a grown band, aren’t you? Or have you been casted?
Tom: We exist for five years now. Bill and me started performing with the two of us, then we met those two, and we didn’t want to just pick them up at first but then we thought “okay, it fits perfectly actually” and it worked out. We’re together for five years already now, as I said.
Stefan Raab: Okay, and all the girls have an incredible crush on you, we’ve hade some standing in front of the studio this morning and one of them really wanted to give you a fan letter. I don’t even know for who it was, for who was the letter? For Bill?
Tom: Yes, we’ve already invited her in the car…
Stefan Raab: Really? Well, she has asked us if shy could read it for you, and she has done it.
Bill: Oh, that’s so nice.
Stefan Raab: Just listen it’s totally cute.

Stefan Raab: Yes, cool, isn’t it?
Tom: Yes, it was for me after all.
Stefan Raab: Only for you
Tom: I thought it was for Bill but it was for me after all.
Stefan Raab: It was only for you and you’ll get the chance to answer it now!
Tom: [Laughs] I can only say, well. I thought it were 50000 letters – Because she asked if I found a letter – and we tried to open as much as possible but we haven’t totally succeeded, and I think I would have remembered you, so you were probably in one we haven’t opened.
Stefan Raab: Okay, you don’t have a girlfriend at the moment?
Tom: No, I don’t have a girlfriend. The only one with a girlfriend is Gustav.
Stefan Raab: That’s a bit inconvenient now it all going so well isn’t it? [Laughs] Yes well, that’s how it is, that’s Rock ‘n Roll! And you don’t want to commit yourselves yet, do you? And of course you don’t even have time for girlfriends!
Tom: Well, no
Bill: In between…
Tom: We don’t commit ourselves every day [Laughs]
Stefan Raab: [Laughs] Yes, well, a rock star has got to be flexible.
Tom: We’re totally flexible and open to everything
Bill: Indeed
Stefan Raab: I’ve got here a very interesting scene from the Comet awards. I don’t know if you’ve seen that, but when you played one more time in the end, after the audience had given you the Supercomet someone thought “Let’s get up that stage and dance”. [Laughing] Wait a moment, because when this happened a security person of Tokio Hotel must have thought “Who is the fat one up there?” and he probably hadn’t recognised him and he got him off stage! Just watch this, Thursday evening live at Pro7.

Bill: Yes, I already wanted to say that, he had annoyed us the entire day so much. He wanted to go to the toilet with Georg, really…
Tom: He was constantly in front of our hotel room, even very early in the morning and than he got up stage…
Stefan Raab: And he probably recorded a lot of fan material for us…
Bill: Yes, probably
Stefan Raab: That comes with the success of course, with the big success come
Tom: groupies
Stefan Raab: Yes [Laughs] and of course jealousy. You know that yourselves, you can’t simply go to school anymore.
Bill: Indeed.
Stefan Raab: Though probably, when you don’t style the way you did now people wouldn’t recognise you anymore, would they? Without the make-up, hair combed back…
Bill: Still they would recognise us, I thought they wouldn’t too, but it wasn’t really like that. But it also depends on the city we are in, in Magdeburg people recognise us much easier than in other cities. (Others agree)
